From our office in Downtown Grass Valley. We are involved in various projects primarily in Nevada, Placer, Yuba and Sierra Counties. Over half of our work is property line and easement surveying; metes and bounds, Cadastral (PLSS) surveying, Records of Survey and other types of property delineation, but we also provide Comprehensive site plans for residential and commercial construction, GPS survey control, as well as topographic mapping and A-1 Certification letters (LAT/LONG/ELEV) for monitoring well and electronic installation locations. Other types of work we engage in include construction staking, resource delineation, permaculture site consultation and subdivision work.

Drawing invisible lines on the Sierra Nevada can sometimes contribute to the general peace, but the lines seem to have a power of their own, or as Abe once tole me, " you can mess around with a guy's wife, take his money, and that might all be all right, but if you start fooling with his property it means war." Over and over, we have found this to be true. Here in California, where the westering pioneers finally ran out of horizon and the Pacific Ocean turned them back into our fertile valleys and lush foothills, we have become a State of shifting restless natives and as the once wide-open spaces become divided and re-divided into smaller and smaller lots, we find ourselves face to face with our neighbors and ourselves and the invisible lines become tangible; fences, walls and the territorial boundaries of our own creativity.  |

Congratulations to Jon Hose for being elected President of the Gold Country Chapter of the California Land Surveyor's Association. This is a collection of mostly Placer and Nevada County surveyors who get together every month in order to discuss issues of common interest to the profession as well as to tell war stories and lies and to eat pizza and drink beer. Jon will be replacing Placer County's John McDonough, who has done a great job lining up speakers on topics of interest to surveyors and who has presided over some memorable pizzas. Jon will surely be an asset to the group, as he has been to this office.
Also, congratulations are in order to Pat Druding, former Cal-survey employee, for his elevation to vice-president of the Chapter.
